Good Scout Award - Tall Timbers District Annual Business & Community Leadership Dinner

The Boys Scouts of America (“BSA”) is one of the nation’s largest values-based youth development organizations. The Scouting program is designed to help young people do things for themselves and others and to teach them patriotism, courage, and self-reliance. The BSA’s mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Each year the BSA’s Tall Timbers District (which covers south Montgomery County), hosts its annual Business & Community Leadership Dinner to bring together local community leaders to share with them the mission of Scouting and report on the progress of the Scouting program in their community.

At that dinner, the Tall Timbers District gives its Good Scout Award to an individual in the local community who exemplifies the values and ideals of Scouting through community leadership and service. View all of the past recipients here.

The Business & Community Leadership Dinner will be held February 12, 2019 · 6-9PM at The Woodlands Country Club, Palmer Course, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

Tall Timbers District

The Tall Timbers District (abbreviation code: TLD) serves Scouting units in Conroe Independent School District including The Woodlands, Oak Ridge, Shenandoah and surrounding communities, south of the San Jacinto River. With more than 60 units including approximately 24 Cub Scout Packs, 21 Boy Scout Troop, 5 Varsity Teams, 10 Venturing Crews and 1 Sea Exploring Ship, the district serves over 1500 youth and 1100 adult leaders. The Tall Timbers District is located in the Sam Houston Area Council.

The Tall Timbers District (TLD) is the area volunteers (such as unit leaders, committee members, and parents) working together to provide a stronger Scouting program in our area. Formed in January 2009, the Tall Timbers District was developed from the southernmost region of the George Strake District and was organized to better serve the growing Scouting movement and the future total available youth of the area.

Sam Houston Area Council

The Sam Houston Area Council serves nearly 60,000 youth in 16 counties in southeast Texas through dedicated service and leadership of over 20,000 adult volunteers. Scouting is completely funded by the generosity of those that believe in its mission.

The purpose of the council is to guide and support its districts for the achievement of the movement’s purpose. Councils establish policies and programs. Districts carry out the policies and programs in their respective territories. Your support of Scouting provides programs, services, professional support, as well as year-round outdoor programs - all designed to lead youth to lifelong values, service, and achievement.

Boy Scouts of America

The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.

For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.
